A lot to explain with this one. This room was first noticed by "Tricker Against Da Odds" back in 2010 when he posted a video showing the rough location of it. With a ton of work slashing dead bodies into the ground to get a rough location of it, Master Chief Collection and the new skulls has allowed me to actually successfully BAW into it through the ground.
As I explain in the text during the video, the reason this room is there has to do with the underwater elevator or "cabin" ride since the location of it is exactly the same place as the cabin was sitting before the ride started in the previous load zone. My theory is that it has something to do with the function of the switch that starts the cabin, and that it can't end up in "void" space or the area inside the maps where the player will die. I can't explain why this is the case but it's my best guess.
Amazingly, there are actually TWO rooms since the livable space is needed for the starting location of both cabin rides. The other room is in fact the exact same thing, but it is very far from the playable area and is most likely impossible to reach without modding.
Thanks to Harc The Shark for some great modded research with Halo 2 vista finding the other room and verifying some theories I had about the whole situation.
Again, I personally used NO modded research to find the room and execute the trick getting in. It was done with hard work and trial and error slashing bodies into the ground, then I mapped out a walking path (shown in the video) to find it easier.
