After the impregnation process of the stator, copper hairpins are covered in an epoxy resin powder coating that needs to be removed from certain areas that will be welded. Laser cleaning is used to remove the epoxy from the areas on the edge of the hairpins that will be welded to connector tabs in the e-motor assembly.

Laser cleaning is increasingly popular as it removes the coating with speed without damaging the copper wire underneath. This guarantees that the epoxy resin does not penetrate and contaminate the welds.
