Using the innards of a Z201YS micro quad, to build a quick and nimble FPV system for outdoor use with no goggles.
System weight is ~3 grams.
WiFi chip is a Marvell 88W8801 - huge 300m outdoor range and featuring Apple home IoT compliance...the best reason for buying a Z201YS !
Camera is a regular 0.3mp, popular for lower end FPV systems.
The IP cameras are around $10 each from various sources (MD81's in 2 different case styles). They work, but are slow to respond to movement, drop connections, heat up and have a short range..oh and the App sucks !
The Z201YS itself is a case of 'wow' features, that don't work well in the real world at this size. They cost about $25.
The altitude hold for example, merely changes height not power and is less intuitive for flying than an actual throttle control.
In summary, it thinks it's a camera platform for indoor aerial selfies and that's about its use. Wonderful for that mind you, if you are so inclined.
Hubsan H107C's are superbly nimble and responsive mini-quads. I've featured both of mine in various videos. They're about $40 and some have 2MP non FPV cameras on them. There is an FPV version already, but I don't own one of course.
This system now, is very practical for outdoors zooming around in average daily conditions. Will handle wind, isn't too laggy, but would be if indoors in tight spaces.
All in all, it works and has been a good journey of discovery.
