I recommend getting the grappling hook into sword attack ability for this fight, it can come in handy several times when he stops his charge by jamming his spear into the ground, it'll let you cram in two extra hits as he recovers. It's also best to block some of his attacks instead of dodging, especially if you're not sure about te timing (a few of them can be tricky).
Overall it's a really fun boss fight, forced me to finally learn how to block properly instead of just using spacing to my advantage, though I would like to try it without any blocking or dodging on subsequent playthroughs, to see if it's doable.

This is a pretty fun boss fight to do this way, but boy can it take a long time if youre not aggressive enough. Also Im not sure how the hell the ring of fire at 0:54 didnt kill me, I wasnt especially familiar with this boss before and was sure that if you get caught in it you get hit 100% of the time, but maybe I just happened to be in a sweet spot or something.
