Gymnopedie No. 1 by Eric Satie (1866-1925)
FIlmed at the Mendota Railroad Museum in Illinois. (Union Depot).
This depot was built in 1888. This museum/Amtrak waiting room is the remaining section of a much larger depot. I have just discovered that this composition GYMNOPEDIE by ERIC SATIE was finished in 1888! Wow! That's kinda cool. This work (one of three) are very popular and as you search You Tube you will find countless performances, some a bit quicker and some slower. I've recorded this piece many years ago and is on my album CLASSICAL GUITAR HIEGHTS. This time I played it a bit slower and letting it breath etc.
I want to thank everyone at the railroad museum for putting up with my insatiable desire to create and have the depot grounds etc. a part of it when I can. It's just too cool not to. I built the large model railroad display that is inside the museum so I guess I have permission to make it a home away from home. Lol. Come visit and step back in history and watch all the Amtrak trains and BNSF frieght trains go by.
Over the years I have put together several recordings and ebooks that are available especially on amazon. Please check them out when you can and it helps me to be inspired to keep creating. Thank you for all the nice comments and subscribing!! You make living worthwhile for me. Take care. Stay safe.
