Comparing our L cup to our L2 cup:  The L cup offers a wider, broader sound while the L2 cup is more directional and gives a crisper articulation.

However, the wider you go with your rim diameter, the broader the sound gets.  In this case, Guillaume Horgue found that he got the best of both worlds by going from a 2L to a 1L2. 

The wider 1 rim gives a broader sound, while the L2 geometry helps withwa a crisper articulation.
