When Hailey was pregnant with Juniper, everything seemed routine — a healthy pregnancy, a happy baby, a bright future ahead. But a few months after birth, Juniper began showing strange movements that worried her parents. After seeing a video of a child doing similar movements online, they took her to the hospital. With experts at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Doernbecher — they learned their baby girl had been having hundreds of seizures, quietly stealing moments from her development.
Ever after countless medicines, diets, steroids, tests, trials and even brain surgery to treat her epilepsy, there’s no cure yet for Juniper’s rare condition. But thanks to the relentless care of OHSU Doernbecher neurologist Dr. Bushlin — and the unwavering love of her family — Juniper continues to smile, play, and bring light to everyone she meets. Through her story, she's also help educate lots of other children and their families about her condition via social media (📲 IG: @growing_juniper) and including two books written by Hailey.
