In 2014 at Hall Green dog track at least 185 greyhounds were hurt in racing accidents and we have identified that at least 45 of those dogs never raced again.
Some dogs were clearly carrying existing injuries and were not fit to race.
But most injuries occur when the dogs collide on the tight bends - more often the first bend is the last for many greyhounds. Many simply break down when an existing minor injury manifests as something more serious......
