On Friday August 1st at Sunderland dog track 6 dogs were involved in serious incidents. 5 of the 6 incidents occurred at the first bend but all dogs were left on the track to complete the course thereby compounding any possible injuries – torn muscles & broken legs.
A racing greyhound will - whenever mechanically possible - continue to race regardless of a torn muscle or broken leg because the injury is masked by adrenalin in their blood.
It remains to be seen whether any of these 6 dogs will race again but research shows THE FIRST BEND IS OFTEN THE LAST!
