Great Tits and Coal Tits are two of the UK's most familiar garden birds, but they can be surprisingly easy to confuse, especially if you're new to birdwatching.

In this video, I compare the two species and highlight a few simple ways to tell them apart. We'll look at their plumage, including the Great Tit's bold black belly stripe and the Coal Tit's distinctive white nape patch, as well as differences in their songs and behaviour.
