The Great Miami Hurricane of 1926 is well-documented as the second strongest hurricane to strike Miami. It was a Category 4, landing on September 18, 1926, after battering the Bahamas. The tremendous impact in Miami was not the complete story. The storm continued into the Gulf of Mexico to have a second landfall. The focus here is on the second landfall of that 1926 hurricane on the central Gulf Coast, largely impacting Pensacola, Florida, as a category 3 hurricane, with lesser impact to Mobile, Alabama, and to coastal Mississippi.
