Today was the my last day at Eurobike 2025 in Frankfurt, but I still saw some incredible new tech. There was a chain retention demo that was pretty mindblowing, a crazy pedal van that could go up to 120kph, new ultra-lightweight frames from Winspace, some cool wheels from Nepest, and a disc brake demo of some carbon-ceramic brake discs.

Plus a new disc brake quick release system from a startup called Fasten. It looked amazing, and worked very well, but certain compromises had to be made with the wheel design.

These Cost WAY Less Than I Thought – Eurobike 2025

$AliExpress Cycling Fails - 5 of the worst! AliExpress has some GREAT value bike parts, but there is definitely a lot of trash too. Here are 5 cycling products from AliExpress that failed me! I think Ive shown over the years that if you are a savvy shopper, and know where to look, you can build yourself a fantastic carbon road bike with parts from AliExpress. I have built some bikes that perform really well, and easily rival the big brands like Specialized and Cannondale, but they cost a fraction of the price. However, there are definitely some cycling products that have caused me problems. In this episode I’ll cover a set of ZRACE garmin mounts that only lasted a few weeks, some cheap carbon handlebars from Toseek that snapped on me, some dangerous tubeless tape, carbon saddles that didnt last, and why you should avoid cheap SPD-SL cleats. Lightweight headset expander plugs or compression plugs, and lightweight top caps are an inexpensive way to drop around 45 grams from the bike. However, when using carbon fibre steerer tubes you need to be careful. The smaller size of the expander plugs can put a lot more strain on the carbon, which could lead to a stress fracture, and potentially a catastrophic failure or a crash. But they can be installed safely. I’ve had a pretty good experience with them, and my carbon forks have remained solid. So let’s go over the risks, what to avoid, and how to install them properly.
