These Cost WAY Less Than I Thought – Eurobike 2025 @TraceVelo

Custom bike shoes are generally VERY expensive, but I bumped into these guys (HEZO) at Eurobike this year. They make fully custom 3D printed bike shoes tailored to your foot, for less that £200 (€230). They use FDM printing to keep the cost low, and the entire shoe, including the liner is 3D printed... Really cool!

I also found some INCREDIBLE looking bikes! A hard tail mountain bike that is SO custom it beggars belief, and easily one of the most beautiful gravel bikes I have ever seen!

In addition, I checked out the Classified hub, with updated Shimano Di2 integration (which blew me away if I'm honest), and a relatively new groupset from TRP. It also uses the Classified hub, but in an interesting way, offering a wild 1x16 drivetrain…

Also Java had some bikes with a retail price I literally couldn't believe was true, and an amazing aluminium gravel bike with an internal 12 speed gearbox.

$AliExpress Cycling Fails - 5 of the worst! AliExpress has some GREAT value bike parts, but there is definitely a lot of trash too. Here are 5 cycling products from AliExpress that failed me! I think Ive shown over the years that if you are a savvy shopper, and know where to look, you can build yourself a fantastic carbon road bike with parts from AliExpress. I have built some bikes that perform really well, and easily rival the big brands like Specialized and Cannondale, but they cost a fraction of the price. However, there are definitely some cycling products that have caused me problems. In this episode I’ll cover a set of ZRACE garmin mounts that only lasted a few weeks, some cheap carbon handlebars from Toseek that snapped on me, some dangerous tubeless tape, carbon saddles that didnt last, and why you should avoid cheap SPD-SL cleats. Lightweight headset expander plugs or compression plugs, and lightweight top caps are an inexpensive way to drop around 45 grams from the bike. However, when using carbon fibre steerer tubes you need to be careful. The smaller size of the expander plugs can put a lot more strain on the carbon, which could lead to a stress fracture, and potentially a catastrophic failure or a crash. But they can be installed safely. I’ve had a pretty good experience with them, and my carbon forks have remained solid. So let’s go over the risks, what to avoid, and how to install them properly.
