Philadelphia police say digital evidence recovered from the home of 44-year-old Eugene Horsch appears to show two women who have been missing for years dead inside the residence. Investigators identified the women as Maribel Fresses, missing since 2018, and Gabriela Amerondo, missing since 2012, but their bodies have not been found.
Former FBI agent JJ Klaver says the absence of bodies makes the investigation especially difficult because authorities lack an easy DNA source to compare with forensic evidence from the home. Police have also recovered more than 20 containers of an unknown substance from an alleged basement lab, five urns containing cremated remains, zip ties and a handwritten note referencing serial killer Ted Bundy.
Investigators have reportedly examined only a small portion of the digital evidence and continue searching the home for forensic links to other victims or missing people. Klaver says a witness coming forward could help break the case open. Horsch remains in custody on unrelated drug and firearms charges and, as of Wednesday, had not been charged in connection with the two missing women.
