Many leaders in the Democratic Party are calling for unity as we approach the midterm elections. But with more and more so-called "Democratic Socialists" winning primary elections, there are concerns they may turn off more moderate and independent voters.
People are tired of the status quo politics and establishment policies. They want real change," Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, said. 
That change is coming, with a series of recent victories by more progressive candidates, including those who call themselves Democratic Socialists.
My hope is that our democracy will never be the same," Abdul El-Sayed said.
Last week’s narrow win by Abdul El-Sayed in the Democratic primary race for Senate in Michigan is now top of mind for the party.
