When President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in 1935, scores of artists were put back to work, promoting tourism and economic growth. In this talk, MTHS graphic designer Luke Duran shares examples of the more than 35,000 poster designs created during this time, highlighting Montana examples and profiling several notable designers who created the WPA style that remains popular today.
