My lane is kind of long and grown over. Before winter is back I need to get it in shape by doing some grading and gravelling!!

I had bought some Class A crushed rock for the tractor and attachment shelter pad. I also want to use some of this gravel on my lane.

It's a good idea I think to put new gravel on your lane every couple or 3 years. On the years you don't add gravel, giving the lane a good going over with the box blade, then grading it with the back blade or landscape rake will make it stand up to a lot of weather and traffic and make your gravel lane look good for a long time.

But some years you need to add more gravel. Well this is one of those years.

In preparation for adding gravel I want to grade the lane first. When I grade my lane I want to re-establish a crown in the centre of the lane to help with water draining off to the side and not running down the middle of the lane and creating ruts and little ditches. Having a nice crown on your lane goes a long ways to having your lane stay in good condition for a long time too!!

So in this video I put the back blade on the Massey Ferguson GC2300 Awesome tractor. I angle the back blade down on the right side to help with the crowning action I want.

Then I make several trips in and out the lane to create a some what sloped off to the ditches angle on the lane, hence the crown.

Then I set the back blade horizontal again and make several more passes to make the lane more smooth.

All this is in preparation for adding 1 to 2 inches of gravel to the lane which I will do in a later video.

I'm a strong believer that if you maintain your lane in this manner it will last a good long time!! And you will rarely ever have to add a lot of gravel to get your lane back in good condition.

Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the video. Please 'thumbs up' me and leave me some comments. And if you haven't done so already, please consider 'subscribing' to my channel. It sure helps my videos get noticed and my channel grow. I hope you all have a great week.

We'll talk to yas ...
