(English below) Gameplay completo en 4K del modo historia de Grabbed by the Ghoulies, un juego de acción y aventura desarrollado por Rare Limited para la primera consola Xbox de Microsoft. En mi opinión no es de sus mejores juegos, aun así, es bastante divertido y con humor y un estilo visual que me recuerda mucho a sus trabajos en la época de N64. Según tengo entendido, este juego inicialmente iba a salir para Gamecube.
En el juego controlamos a Cooper, un adolescente que se adentra en la misteriosa mansión de un barón chiflado, en busca de refugio junto a su novia, quien es secuestrada. La mansión está repleta de criaturas malignas de todo tipo con las que debemos luchar para rescatarla. En ocasiones nos encontraremos con personajes amistosos que nos prestarán su ayuda.
El juego es básicamente un beat'em up con toques de aventura. El control es un tanto extraño, pues para golpear no se usan los botones sino el stick derecho. A este juego le habría beneficiado un poco más de exploración por la mansión, cuyo desarrollo es totalmente guiado, y algo más de variedad de las estancias, algunas se repiten varias veces a lo largo del juego, que no se caracteriza por ser muy largo. Lo que más me gusta del juego es su estilo caricaturesco colorido y humorístico, junto a la música de Grant Kirkhope, que identificas en seguida con Rare.
Testeando juegos en el emulador Xemu, vi que este es uno de los mejor emulados, así que decidí jugarlo y de paso traer el gameplay al canal. Yo tengo este juego original comprado en su día, aunque no lo llegué a jugar demasiado entonces. El gameplay no pretende ser perfecto, pero he jugado al juego una vez anteriormente para encontrar los 100 libros que se encuentran más o menos escondidos en cada estancia que visitamos, y que desbloquean desafíos, así que podría considerarse una especie de guía.
Sobre la emulación, en general es buena, quizás falte algún efecto visual sin importancia, pero lo peor es que se ralentiza a veces debido a la pobre optimización del emulador. Por PC no será, pues con un i9-13900K y una RTX 4090, el juego debería ir perfecto. Jugado en Xemu v0.7.127.

Full 4K gameplay of the story mode of Grabbed by the Ghoulies, an action-adventure game developed by Rare Limited for Microsoft's first Xbox console. In my opinion it's not one of their best games, even so, it's quite fun and with humor and a visual style that reminds me a lot of their work in the N64 era. As far as I know, this game was initially going to be released for Gamecube.
In the game we take control of Cooper, a teenager who wanders into the mysterious mansion of a wacky baron, seeking refuge with his girlfriend, who is kidnapped. The mansion is full of evil creatures of all kinds with which we must fight to rescue her. Occasionally we will meet friendly characters who will lend us their help.
The game is basically a beat'em up with touches of adventure. The control is a bit strange, because to hit you don't use the buttons but the right stick. This game would have benefited from a little more exploration of the mansion, whose passage through its rooms is completely guided, and some more variety of rooms, some are repeated several times throughout the game, which is not characterized by being very long. What I like most about the game is its colorful and humorous cartoon style, along with Grant Kirkhope's music, which you identify immediately with Rare.
Testing games in the Xemu emulator, I saw that this is one of the best emulated games, so I decided to play it and bring the gameplay to the channel. About the emulation, in general good, perhaps missing some unimportant visual effect, but the worst thing is that it slows down at times due to the poor optimization of the emulator.
