Maine Gov. Janet Mills delivered the final State of the State address of her two-termed administration to a joint session of the state legislature in Augusta on January 27, 2026. Mills, who made history as Maine's first woman governor in 2019, outlined the progress her Democratic administration has made and the ongoing challenges still facing the state.

Mills announced a package of proposals to be included in a supplemental budget aimed at addressing affordability and the cost of living including $300 "affordability checks" for approximately 725,000 people in Maine, funded with state reserves.

Mills also proposed an extension of the state’s free community college program and $70 million for new housing construction.
