shadows is made of metal and wants to get back at twine, his biomechanical arch nemesis ex-friend. they are my babies and this is their story :]

(this description goes more into the organ gaining thing than the can fire thing)

twine’s rarefaction cell helps run parts of his can systems through special embedded code to help heal any of the organic components in his complex if they are damaged, and in the case the cell initiates a spread of organic matter—think of it like an immune system. i know rarefaction cells are canonically just for providing backup power but why not mix some body functions in there,,
so after their friend breakup fight shadows fucking throws twine out of his own can using the help of a new appointed evil sidekick that hooefully won’t question his plans as much, currents. shadows then goes a step further by taking twine’s rarefaction cell so twine couldn’t just return to his can if he tried because it’s at a higher risk of infection and degradation without the cell.
shadows’ big “plan is to power his withering unfinished mechanical structure as much as he can. but when currents, the doer of shadows’ dirty work, takes twine’s core and installs it into shadows’ can, the cell’s coding detects a grave lack of organs in the can complex and lines shadows’ can and puppet innards with the material.
and so shadows develops a heart, lungs, liver, and highly acidic stomach all squished into his torso and of course this comes with a lot of problems like hacking and gasping and learning how to breathe for the first time while the evil mad scientist currents whom shadows trusted to help him further his “evil” plans is actually incredibly unempathetic and controlling during an emergency like this. i don’t know the exact details of how everything happens yet bc i’ve yet to rewrite this whole event that’s actually named gash after the fresh new wound shadows bears in his face that functions as a copy of twine’s own mouth.
with this addition of several new systems shadows finds a substantial amount more difficulty in the half-involuntary action of breathing. it’s ambiguous if it’s his incompetence (i mean who can blame him the Worst Person Ever currents is coaching him in ts and threatening to sedate him like cmon) and the fresh organs actually developed right and “he’s just damaging them”, or they developed wrong and that’s why he’s struggling. that’s the ambiguous nature of the asthma vs tuberculosis argument…and i’ve veered toward giving him both—primarily the former but with symptoms of tb.
