BE SURE to switch to 1080p res, and play full screen or you will not see the noise. The difference is not subtle at all!
This is GoPro Hero2 versus Hero3 Black Edition, low light comparison.
Both cameras set at 1080p@30fps medium wide FoV.
Pay special attention to things like the detail in the bricks on the wall.
The noise of the Hero2 sensor almost obliterates it.
There's still some noise on the Hero3, but most detail is retained.
