Initially, the sound designers of the Godzilla movie had recorded the sounds of lions and tigers. Still, they realized that the audio did not match the depiction of a gigantic monster that was supposed to be 50 meters tall. The Japanese music composer Akira Ifukube devised an ingenious solution to solve this issue. He rubbed a leather glove on a double bass in a chambered room, then slowed the audio down, creating a sound resembling a massive monster. This unique audio technique became so popular that it has become a part of the history of the Godzilla franchise.

Today is the 65th anniversary of Godzilla! To celebrate, I decided to upload the Godzilla 1954 sound effects. I uploaded this a while back, but it didn't include all the roars. This one has all of the cries. Enjoy! Happy birthday to the king of the monsters, Godzilla!
