Plioplatecarpus is a miniature species of mosasaur that lived in the Late Cretaceous period. Discovered in 1995 by Mike Hanson in the Sheyenne River valley near Cooperstown, Griggs County, North Dakota. Plioplatecarpus in the shallow-water, subtropical Pierre Sea that covered North Dakota about 73-66 million years ago.
