I refilled my top feeders on 8/22/2018 since this is a new hive and we are in a 'dearth'. I decided to sit for awhile and observe my honeybees. Watching my girls brings me more peace than meditation! I was a bit disturbed by the dead bees in front of the hive, but after consulting with my mentor, and further observing the bees to ensure there was no robbing activities, we've decided this is 'normal' death, since bees only live 30-45 days. They do appear to be "cleaning" the front landing board and if you watch closely, you'll observe LOTS of pollen coming in. I tried to slow the video down some around the 5 min. mark with my video-editing software, but I'm not really good at it yet, but if you can slow it down on playback, you will be able to see the gobs of pollen being dragged in.
