Overview and test of the GMC-300S
The GMC-300S is a Geiger counter model that I appreciate for several reasons such as: it is American designed🇺🇸 the battery is replaceable and easy to find, the muller tube can be replaced easily and the price is less than $100. Ergonomically the GMC-300S is comfortable to hold... it certainly does not have the compactness of the RADEX ONE, but it costs a third and, I repeat, it has the replaceable muller tube.
Background radiation is a constant source of ionizing radiation present in the environment and emitted from a variety of sources. According to the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation, there are four major sources of natural radiation: cosmic radiation, terrestrial radiation and intakes of naturally occurring radionuclides through inhalation and ingestion.
About Radon: Radon comes from decaying Uranium that is contained in the rock and soil beneath the basement (under the foundation) of every home. Being in constant contact with the ground, a home's basement is the main entry point for Radon gas.
