Olisiko luonnollisesta pimeydestä pohjoisen Suomen matkailuvaltiksi? Suomalaiselle matkailulle vielä uusi Dark Sky Tourism -teema tarjoaa matkailualalle mahdollisuuksia luoda uusia palveluita, testata uutta teknologiaa ja kehittää eri alojen välistä yhteistyötä. Valaisemattoman taivaan matkailullisia mahdollisuuksia tarkastellaan Karelia-ammattikorkeakoulun luotsaamassa GLOW2.0-hankkeessa, jonka tavoitteena on yhteistyössä paikallisten yritysten ja yrittäjien kanssa lisätä itäisen ja pohjoisen alueen vetovoimaa. Pimeyden ilosanomaa levitetään Suomen lisäksi hankkeen kumppanialueilla Irlannissa, Islannissa ja Pohjois-Norjassa. Hanketta rahoittaa Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic Program.
Could natural darkness be a tourist asset for northern Finland? Dark Sky Tourism is a fairly new concept for Finnish tourism, but the theme offers many opportunities for the tourism industry to create new offerings, test new technologies and explore cooperation between different stakeholders. The tourism potential of the dark sky is being explored in the GLOW2.0 project led by Karelia University of Applied Sciences. The project aims to increase the attraction of the eastern and northern regions of Finland together with local businesses and entrepreneurs. In addition to Finland, the message of darkness will be spread across the project's partner regions in Ireland, Iceland and Northern Norway. GLOW2.0 is funded by Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic Program.
