While neurons perform under the spotlight, glial cells work behind the scenes to keep the show running.
In this stop-motion pop-up book animation, the brain is reimagined as a theater production. Here, each type of glial cell performs a specialized role within the nervous system: Astrocytes (the stage managers) maintain the brain's environment, oligodendrocytes (the electrical crew) wrap neuronal axons in myelin, and microglia (the theater’s security team) protect the brain from infection.
