What do you do with your sins?

When I fall into sin, I go into a bit of a spiritual sulk. I mope around on the outskirts of God's love and feel like I can't come before Him for the next couple of weeks at least.

There's a much better way of handling our sins. It's all to do with the sacrificial system of the Old Testament. Do you remember that? They would sin, and then bring to the temple an animal, and they would lay their hands on the head of the animal and they would confess all their sins onto the animal as though they were putting their sins onto it. And then the sacrifice died in their place.

Of course, none of those sacrifices actually dealt with sin, but in John chapter 1 Jesus shows up, and John the baptist points to him and says behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. There is a sacrifice Who we can put our sins onto.

Charles Simeon was a preacher in the 18th century and he discovered this truth and it changed his life. In his diary, he wrote "What, may I transfer all my sins onto an other. Has God provided an offering for me, that I may lay my sins on his head? Then," said Simeon, "God willing, I will not bear them on my soul a moment longer!"

Do you have sins that you are carrying on yourself, then do what Simeon did. Lay them onto the head of Jesus, confess your sins to Him and let Him carry them.
