Today in the hot shop we are using one of my favorite bronze molds, the pineapple mold. Bronze and aluminum molds are widely used in glassblowing and they are commonly referred to as "optic molds", because they manipulate light and create optic designs. We use the mold and then gather clear glass on top, to trap bubbles in the indentions left by the mold. After that gather of glass, we turn the form into a tall cylindrical shape. And presto, we have a vase!
