A short clip from the Shuttleworth Family Airshow 2024, showing the Shuttleworth Collection's Gloster Gladiator, Hawker Sea Hurricane and a pair of Supermarine Spitfire Mk. Vc's, together with a visiting Spitfire from the Fighter Aviation Engineering collection. The film shows the take offs and flypast and some of the paired Spitfire display. I was primarily doing stills photography for this show, so didn't film either of the Spitfire or Gladiator solo displays or landings. The Sea Hurricane appears to have landed directly after the flypast also, rather than to have continued to do a solo display.

Gloster Gladiator, L8032 was the last production Gladiator I built in 1937. In 1948 it, together with Gladiator II N5903, was bought back by Glosters. In 1950 the two were delivered to Air Service Training for use as instructional airframes at Hamble and Ansty. When Ansty closed the aircraft were bought by Viv Bellamy for a nominal sum. L8032 was restored using the engine from N5903. L8032 was again bought by Glosters in 1953 and in 1956 returned to full military specification in 72 Squadron markings, with the fictitious serial K8032. When Gloster Aircraft closed the Gladiator was presented to The Shuttleworth Collection on 7 November 1960.

In 1990 it was repainted in camouflage, with No 247 Squadron codes and wore these until a fabric re-cover in 1996, when it emerged in Norwegian colours for filming.
In 2007 it re-appeared as K7985 of 73 Squadron RAF, the aircraft flown by the WWII Ace ‘Cobber’ Kain at the 1937 Hendon Air Pageant.

Hawker Sea Hurricane - The Shuttleworth Collection's Hawker Sea Hurricane IB, Z7015, G-BKTH, is the last airworthy Sea Hurricane IB.
It was built by Canadian Car & Foundry and first flew on 18/1/41. After shipping to England it went to General Aircraft for conversion to a Sea Hurricane IB. On 19/7/41, it went to HMS Heron (RNAS Yeovilton), to 880 Squadron at Orkney.
On 7/1/41 it went to the Naval Fighter School (759) Squadron at HMS Heron and by autumn 1943 had moved to Loughborough College as an instructional airframe.
In January 1986 restoration started and on 16/9/95 it flew again.

Spitfire Vc AR501 - Shuttleworth Collection's Supermarine Spitfire Vc, G-AWII, was built in 1942 by Westland Aircraft at Yeovil, Somerset.
Initially going to RAF 8 Maintenance Unit (MU) at Little Rissington on 22/6/42, then to 6 MU Brize Norton on 7/7/42 , it was issued to 310 (Czechoslovak) Squadron at Exeter on 19/7/42.
On 15/3/43 it was badly damaged on the ground at RAF Exeter. Repairs were done off site at 67 MU, Taunton and Westlands, Yeovil.
It went to 33 MU, Lyneham on 17/7/43 and 3501 Servicing Unit, Cranfield on 6/8/43. On 18/8/43 it was issued to 504 (City of Nottingham) Squadron at Church Stanton (Culmhead), Somerset.
On 10/10/43 it joined 312 (Czechoslovak) Squadron, which was doing bomber escort duties, protecting raids across the English Channel against V-1 rocket launch sites.
In post war years it was an instructional airframe at Loughborough College. It was acquired by the Shuttleworth Collection in 1961.

It flew for the 1969 Battle of Britain film and had a major overhaul in the early 1970s. It was airworthy from 1977-2005, before another overhaul.
In mid 2000 elliptical wingtips were refitted for the movie 'Pearl Harbor'.
From 2005 to 2018 it had a strip down and rebuild to original condition.
It now has the 1943 livery of 312 (Czechoslovak) Squadron.
Since 19/2/2022 it has had its elliptical wing tips restored.

Spitfire Vc EE602, G-IBSY - initially went to 33 Maintenance Unit (MU) 21/10/42 - 66 Squadron, RAF Zeals, Wiltshire.
19/2/43 - 129 (Mysore) Squadron.
Funds for its cost were raised by British expats who were running the Uruguayan Railways. So, on her side is inscribed ‘Central Railways Uruguayan Staff’ marking its 'presentation' from the funds raised.
It was formally ‘presented’ to 129 Squadron at RAF Ibsley on 31/5/43.
EE602's final squadron was 453 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) where it carried the squadron code 'FU-?' and was generally flown by Flt. Lt. Don Andrews. 453 Squadron was based at RAF Ibsley.
On 17 July 1943 EE602 crashed on Salisbury Plain and was written off.

20/5/2011 - registered to Ian David Ward, Aldershot as G-VMIJ.
25/1/2012 - Registration changed to G-IBSY with Fairfax Spitfires Ltd, Salisbury.
Full restoration (2012 - 2015) by Airframe Assemblies, VMI Engineering, Retrotec & Air and Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar.
It now flies again in the markings carried while EE602 served with 129 Squadron.
The first flight was on 15/5/2015.
30/10/2017 - sold to Anglia Aircraft Restorations.
31/5/2022 - transferred to Fighter Aviation Engineering Ltd. Operated by Air Leasing, based at Sywell and IWM Duxford.
