And the story behind this piece is just as legendary. This piece comes from the personal collection of Australian rugby player David Campese, who was gifted it directly by Crowe himself. In the build-up to the 2003 Rugby World Cup, Campese publicly dismissed England’s chances. When England went on to win, he honoured his bet by walking through London wearing a sandwich board that read “I admit, the best team won!” The week before that walk, Crowe handed him this very helmet, joking, “You might need this,” in exchange for a signed jersey.
