Giuseppe Verdi's opera adaptation of Shakespeare's Scottish tragedy ‘Macbeth’ marked the end of the composer´s ‘anni di galera’ (galley years) and was a huge success.
After BABY DOLL (2020) and NEGAR (2022), French director Marie-Ève Signeyrole is now staging the bloody royal drama MACBETH for Deutsche Oper Berlin: ‘What happens on stage will not seem completely alien to us. It is a projection into a dark near future, a fiction. Unfortunately, however, this dystopia is not entirely unrealistic.’
We celebrate the premiere on Saturday, 23 November 2024, with further performances on 27/30 November, 4/8 December 2024, and 11/19/25 January 2025.
