"Girl Scout Cookies"
People don’t like AI.
They say it misrepresents what it is.
They say it takes jobs from real artists,
And that’s just bad business.
But how can you blame the young generation
For sinking into its embrace
When they were introduced to the concept of misrepresentation
At a very young age?
See these cookies,
They come from the Girl Scouts.
We call them Girl Scout cookies,
Only Girl Scouts sell them.
You can see them everywhere you’re looking.
But take a peek behind the curtain,
You’ll see them rolling out of factory machines.
The whole thing runs on automation.
Now do you see what I mean?
Legally, you’d expect that young children
Would be in the kitchen with sugar and flour,
Baking all of those cookies,
Listening to songs about girl power.
One group of kids works on Thin Mints,
One group works on Samoas.
One group sneaks bites from the shortbread cookies.
Usually people like those when they’re older.
See these cookies,
They come from the Girl Scouts.

The whole thing runs on automation.
Now do you see what I mean?
I’m not saying Girl Scouts should be working in factories,
But if they’re not, that’s just false advertising.
But is it any different when they’re working shifts
Selling shrinking boxes with photos so appetizing?
But if they’re not baking the cookies themselves
And they rely on mechanical help,
Is that any different than artificial intelligence
Lending a hand to somebody else?
See these cookies,
They come from the Girl Scouts.

Now do you see what I mean?
This is why I prefer church bake sales.
You know real people make the baked goods.
Though I once saw the priest using ChatGPT
To make his sermon a bit more good.
I mean better.

![Slow Coast Heartbeat (Bowen Island)
Yeah
Horseshoe Bay behind us, ferry cuttin’ through the black water
Bowen Island nights…
West coast drizzle on the windshield…
[Verse 1]
Last boat in at Snug Cove dock
Kids still posted by the Union Steamship clock
Tourists all gone, now the island exhale
Fog roll slow past the Queen of Capilano trail
Coffee gone cold from Tell Your Friends
Old dudes still arguin’ where the good years went
One truck parked crooked by the General Store
Mud on the tires from the Mount Gardner road
Bonfire sparks down by Pebbly Beach
Cheap Bluetooth speaker barely stayin’ in reach
Somebody rappin’ over old G-funk drums
While the tide crash low and the cold wind hum
Seen rich Vancouver folks buy cedar retreats
Then panic first winter when the power cuts deep
Meanwhile island lifers laugh and grin
Light candles up and keep everything dim
Road bend dark by Grafton Lake
One wrong move and your axle break
Everybody know your truck and face
So there ain’t nowhere on Bowen to disappear for days
[Chorus]
Ferry lights glow in the Snug Cove mist
Bassline knock through the cedar drift
We don’t move fast, just lean and slide
Slow coast heartbeat with the dark-tide ride
From Artisan Eats to the pub out late
Everybody here got history and weight
From the marina wood to the shoreline blues
Island soul in rain-soaked boots
[Verse 2]
Killarney Lake trail all wet with rain
Tacoma headlights through the evergreen maze
Crab traps stacked by the government dock
Somebody tunin’ up a skiff round the clock
Bowen Pub jukebox stuck in the past
Tom Petty, Too $hort, then some old Clash tracks
One dude swear he finally movin’ away
Still sayin’ that same thing every May
Deep Bay water black as oil
Moonlight caught in the driftwood coils
And the ferry horn echo out through Howe Sound
Like the whole damn coast got a tired old growl
Cops barely seen, but the gossip move quick
By noon everybody know whose boat got hit
That’s Bowen life, rugged but warm
Rain on the cedar through another storm
[Chorus]
Ferry lights glow in the Snug Cove mist
Bassline knock through the cedar drift
We don’t move fast, just lean and slide
Slow coast heartbeat with the dark-tide ride
[Outro]
Yeah
Streetlight flicker outside Doc Morgan’s
Rain tap rhythm on the marina rails
And the sub still knock…
