About Daniel’s Music Foundation:
In 2006, The Trush Family founded Daniel’s Music to provide free access to music primarily for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities, creating a safe space where every member is recognized as an individual, not defined by their disability.
Since inception, we have witnessed the talents of our members and have provided them with opportunities to share their gifts with others. But we wanted to do more - something that would have an impact beyond the four walls of our music center in NYC.
In 2020, The Danny Awards were born - an annual, global award show that celebrates the incredible contributions of artists with disabilities to the world of music through live performance and industry recognition.
Today, we continue to diminish isolation with free in-person and online music programs nationally and are also helping to build a more equitable future for artist with disabilities through high-profile events like The Danny Awards®, presentations about differences, and our non-traditional record label - Just Call Me By My Name®.
