Our video today is about a German Shepherd attacking a bear to protect its owner. The owner and the dog were out for a morning walk , when they saw a bear sitting beside the road. The dog didn't have the leash on, so it wasted no time in running towards the bear and started to bark at it constantly. The main reason why dogs are so protective of their keepers is cause dogs consider their owners to be part of their pack.
Thus inherently feel the need to protect them in case of any threats. The German Shepherds have a natural protective instinct that does not waver.
Their deep desire to protect their owner and family is unmatchable. The GSDs are even known to put their life in danger to save their owners.
However, bears are very dangerous animals, and owners should never let their dogs mess with them. If you are a dog owner in bear country our bet is the last thing you want is a bear charging back at you following your dog. Dogs can provoke defensive behaviour in bears. Fast movement example a running dog, can trigger pursuit. This is why when traveling with a dog through bear country, it is best to keep your dog leashed or to have a very well trained dog that'll listen to your commands. When a bear chases a dog, the dog often runs back to its’ owner. Potentially a very dangerous situation for you and your dog.
Now let's talk about our video of the day. The bear in this video, didn't seem to be bothered much about German Shepherd barking at him.
Marsican brown bears have characteristics that differ from other brown bear subspecies. The Marsican brown bear, otherwise known as the Apennine brown bear, have relatively calm temperament, and have less aggression towards humans or other animals.
But this doesn't mean they aren't dangerous. This GSD was lucky that it stayed calm and didn't attack the dog. On the owner's part, we would say that she should've kept her dog on a leash. She must have been aware of the bear presence in the area. On the top German Shepherd wasn't listening to her commands. She kept on calling it back but it totally ignored her commands. This could've ended really bad for the dog and the owner.
However, we'll give credit to the German Shepherd for showing immense courage to protect its owner.
