Georgia Farm Bureau leaders recently traveled to Washington, D.C. as part of the Georgia Farm Bureau President’s Trip to advocate for agriculture and share the realities farmers are facing back home.
During meetings on Capitol Hill, producers spoke directly with lawmakers about the financial challenges impacting agriculture today — including soaring production costs, shrinking profits, and the long-term sustainability of family farms.
The timing of the visit also coincided with the first markup discussions for the highly anticipated Farm, Food and National Security Act, commonly known as the Farm Bill. For many in the delegation, it was a powerful opportunity to make sure the voices of Georgia farmers are heard as lawmakers shape policies that will impact the future of agriculture.
From veteran county leaders to young farmers and ranchers, the delegation represented multiple generations and commodities across Georgia agriculture — all united by a common goal: ensuring the future of farming remains strong.
