The second day of Pythors Advent calendar! And today is also my birthday! I turned 17 today. Three words:
Too high expectations
Well, in two ways. First, based on the lineup of creators, I assumed this to be a good level and the best RGB level. Secondly, since I have beaten levels that according to pc players are similar difficulty or even harder (Ouro, Sonic Wave, Shmarley Ville, Cybernetic Crescent) I thought, well this shouldn’t take longer than two months at max. I was incredibly wrong. It didn’t take two, nor three, nor four but SIX MONTHS to beat this level. This is longer time than it has taken me to beat ANY extreme ever. Yes, it took me TWICE as long to beat this than Ouroboros.
There are multitude of reasons for this. Firstly, this level is sooo boring to play. It felt like a burden any time I picked the level again and did a session of 1-4 hours. Secondly, the gameplay sucks. A huge portion of the difficulty comes from the fact gameplay elements are entirely invisible or just hard to see in general. Most of the transitions suck too. Thirdly, it is just way too long level. I’m comfortable with levels that are at most 2min 30sec but this is just too long. I never anticipated to dislike this level as much as I did but here we are.
In other news what kind of achievements I got from this?
* Sixth to beat this on mobile and first in Finland
* #1 ranked Finnish player on GDMobilelist.com until leaderboards are split, get rekt DashY :trollface:
* My 20th Exteme, 3rd or 2nd hardest
* 888th lemon. Yatagarasu meaning is ”eight span crow” so it felt fitting to beat for this number.
About the level: Bad gameplay, I don’t recommend. Deco is whatever but lacks depth and song is too repetitive to my taste. Occasionally can be fun to play from startpos but it’s a really stressful level from 0.
My experience: Worst experience I have ever had with an extrme. Yes it took less attempts than Sonic Wave, Ouroboros and even Artificial Ascent but only due to the fact it’s longer than all of them. I was insanely unlucky with this level, getting 175 fails after 50%. A level that is XL and first half heavy-ish SHOULD NOT function like that.
I started playing this in April-May but started it seriously in early June. Had a few breaks in late June and early August. In a few days of serious playing I got 58% as a fluke from 24 which was insane but it was deceiving. I more than doubled my attempts from that day trying to beat this level. After that it took well over a month to get to Hinds. After that, yet another month to get past Hinds. Then two weeks to get to 91% and after that somehow yet another month to actually finish it off. Glad I get to play other levels finally now.
In addition to the huge amount of fails past 50, I also did 15-100, 20-100x4 and 36-100x15. And 51-100 probably close to 50 times. And I even did a reverse completion 6 times!

Ok I said next progress vid when I hit 50% but this is close enough and Ill anyway hit 70% soon-ish. That should be the next progress vid. Atm I have passed Devon 4 times and Im not even nervous when I do that so thats nice. 55K attempts so far
How I feel about the first third currently:
Terron (hard and takes sometimes a while to pass)
Rustam (almost free)
Darwin (a lot easier than it was initially, especially the miniwave is not too bad anymore)

Wouldve been nice to get 36-100 but oh well. Its still a run worth of 60% of the level so it works as the first progress update. Next Ill try to get to 80s from 21% and then Ill begin playing on normal mode. The ultimate endurance test, this run alone is basically as long as the entirety of Cybernetic Crescent or Sonic Wave lol
