Ah yes Macabre, a level that I started a very long time ago but gave up on early on, and upon watching Skarro’s original completion I said I would never touch this level again. Well, I was looking for new levels to play recently and my guy Roby recommended Macabre to me, saying that it was really fun despite having many chokepoints. I figured I’d give it another shot and what do you know I actually enjoyed it all the way through.
Hell, I think I got even more unlucky than both individuals mentioned above and I was honestly expecting it from the very beginning since I choke at almost everything. It’s got chokepoints like the first few clicks of the 22 ship, the 44 transition, ball (I heard a lot of bad things about this one but to my surprise it wasn’t as impossible as I thought. Turns out it was mostly muscle memory and got consistent), wave, curved ship, 71, 78 ship, and 87-89. So the base gameplay is not good, because it’s unbalanced, but for some reason I didn’t mind it. It was actually pretty damn fun and even with my fails I never hated playing the level because it gets consistent. Completed on 7/26/2022
Fun Fact: This is my first rejected demonlist record ever. Their excuse is that I have no FPS counter and apparently the new rules require it. Very nice of them to not give a single warning about this. Sorry people but I have a life and don’t check the guidelines 24/7. No way in hell am I rebeating this, and even if I wanted to I shouldn’t have to. Shame on you demon list staff.
