The General Dynamics F-16XL was developed from the original General Dynamics F-16. The F-16XL was originally named the F-16 SCAMP., and had a cranked-arrow delta wing. It was a techonlogy demonstrator, also in competition for the USAF's Enhanced Tactical Fighter. It was very maneuverable and in many ways superior to the original F-16. However the F-16XL never entered production.
