Hello Out There,

I decided to turn on the camera to give those of you who like to watch someone working a little glimpse of what's on my desk today. Since we're coming to the end of another year I thought I'd look around and try to finish up some of those unfinished projects. I had started 8 vintage Reader's Digest shadow boxes back in Ep. 12 ( youtu.be/DQAcsr9ba78) of this series and never finished them. I've sped this short video up to double-time with lots of edits but I think you get the gist. Once I've made the shadow box frames, I like to use the front of the book cutout from one book to create the actual artwork for another book. I've used my gel printed papers to create the background collage. I like to add a tissue layer with painted marks or stamping for a little added interest. I use this as my background for displaying a found object. I came up with this idea as a way to display some of the things I like to collect so that I can enjoy them rather than let them sit in a drawer. I add a hanger to the back in case I want to hang them on the wall. If you use just a bit of hinge tape at the top, they'll stay in place but you'll be able to lift them to clean the glass inside if needed. I've added a piece of vintage dictionary page just to clean up the back and added a label to the inside of the back. A little magnet keeps the back closed but easy to open. Watch to the end to see my little gallery wall. You can also just set them on a bookshelf which I think is my favorite way to display them. What's your favorite way to display your found objects?
