In this weeks FARMVLOG we ramble up to the North Field with our new dairy goats before James checks in with the geese, looking at the small silvopasture system the geese are grazing in - an area of alder coppice planted as a source of wood fuel. We then have an update on how our flock of laying hens (who live in a Justin Rhodes style chickshaw) are doing and our plans to re-seed an area of pasture that the hens have prepared for us. We also catch up with this year's chicks, now almost fully grown.
Rosa gives us a tomato update in the polytunnel, looking at green tomatoes and her plans to put them into this weeks CSA veg boxes. Oran, our border collie puppy, shows off his digging skills before we head to the large polytunnel to begin the work in tidying up before winter. We also have a look at the shiitake mushrooms that are growing on logs in the tunnel, before getting the BCS and trailer to move our old courgette crop to our compost area, having a look to see how our compost is doing.
