Here's a look at the Ecotec Hybern8 insulated 10° inflatable pad inside my single layer Ridgerunner bridge hammock. The past few nights it's FINALLY been cool enough to get back out and do some much longed for hanging. After getting the Ecotec pad I was able to test it on the ground in 2 tents, the Snugpak Ionosphere 1 person bivy tent & the OneTigris Backwoods Bungalow , and both of my 11' gathered end style hammocks but not in my Ridgerunner. Now that fall is finally here , trying out the pad + RR combo was first on my list.
Overall, it's a comfortable combination with minimal slippage of the pad and ample coverage on the sides. Its design allows it to really conform to the shape of gathered end AND bridge hammocks while still keeping the " feel" of the hammock pretty true. As far as it's ability to insulate, so far I can only say that the lowest I've had it has been 57° with a strong breeze and I was plenty warm. It's 10°F comfort rating seems to be pretty spot on from the few reviews I've read so far, but I definitely plan on seeing for myself this winter while hanging and on the ground. I'm impressed with its overall performance so far and for its price point I think it's definitely worth getting if your new to hammocks or are looking for a good winter pad to use in a tent.
I will continue to test this product as the seasons change and I'm able to see how it does on the trail. It seems like this just might be a keeper if stays true to its temp rating. Also, I've finally been able to trail test the Helikon-Tex Foxtrot mk2 belt rig & Helikon-Tex E&E pouch as well as a few other things and will start testing the Snugpak Base Camp Ops Expedition 10° sleeping bag once it's FINALLY cold enough.
