Palestinian journalist and documentary filmmaker, Yousef Al-Helou has shown his latest feature, a Phoenix of Gaza, in Gibraltar following an invitation from local activist group, Gibraltar for Palestine.
Mr Al-Helou, who is from Gaza, was filming a documentary in 2023 at the time of Hamas’s terrorist attack in Israel. He continued to film the destruction in his country during the war that followed.
Mr Al-Helou says his sister and her seven children were killed during Israel’s bombing of Gaza and that he has not been able to retrieve their bodies.
He is currently touring internationally with the film, and was joined by Leah Levane, Co-chair of the organization Jewish voice for Liberation.
