In this video, Maxx explores the Ganzfeld Effect and how you can use this real world experience in your larp to expose players to something interesting and deepen everyone's immersion.
***This type of stimulation is not for everyone. If you intend to use this style of experience, players need to understand what is happening and going to happen. Not all players may want to participate in this type of play, so it is important to have them sign off on it with their consent and not force people into it. Even at that, I'd still suggest a safe word to terminate, because this can make you uneasy and uncomfortable and some may find it just generally unpleasant***
There is a lot of research online and articles regarding the Ganzfeld Effect and I encourage you to research it on your own. But in simple terms, it attempts to homogenize your visual and auditory senses and force your brain to fill in the blanks, creating what some call altered consciousness states.
To do it, you'll need:
Ping Pong Ball (Cut in half)
Clear Tape
Source of Red Light
Source of White Noise (I used; youtube.com/watch?v=o63ztZlpdoE)
30 minutes in a dark room
