This is a little experimental format change JUST for the fact that the game crawls to a complete stop outside of traditional battle the series is known for... THAT way I can spend my REAL time throwing saucy tea party puppet shows during battle and story content!

If they didn't want me to obligatorily waste time and funds each month, they shouldn't have made the monastery so huge!

I also had super obtuse technical difficulties at the start, so this is the stream archive recombined instead of as a tiny troubleshooting video and a massive stream video being separate. AUTHENTICITY, yes. Sure.
Thats also why it took longer to properly publish, instead of it being more or less instantaneous... because, historically... (looks at massive mountain of video content that hasnt been properly catalogued and published yet, which only got WORSE when livestreaming became part of my tinkering and tampering with the fabric of ultraspace... ... ... yeah, n-no, no reason...)

The original upload remains available for curiositys and posteritys sake as unlisted, but I made a supreme ouchie specifically to SPITE the fact that I said this level of alternative depravity was only possible BECAUSE I had allegedly tamed the technology that allows for the multi-version parallel approach in the first place.

Because the ONLY copy of the game audio that survived because OBS likes to test me frequently in workflows Im not constantly utilizing and forgetting audio sources... is the original stream audio. So its inseparable from my ceaseless yammering. ;3
Its almost like every technical level of the process Ive created is trying to TELL me Im good enough and I can stand by my creation without shame or fear ... ... ... and other such esteem-driven malarkey that I will never possibly tolerate, much less embrace.

Since I actually PLAN around being unable to play new releases on the day Im assured release day delivery supposedly happens, and Ive been trying to break back into two-screened capture... ... ... and Im really also really-really trying to commit to NOT neglecting YouTube so badly anymore, I think I should really just rip off the nondescript corporate-unafffiliated adhesive bandage strip cheese food product and get around to posting stream archives.
Yknow, the way I always talk about. To NOT let Jeff keep exclusivity to the content until he throws it away in the end after about a month or whatever. Doing things like that, only Jeff wins. He wins sweet, sweet fractions of pennies that nobody actually cares about.
Whereas the thing we should ACTUALLY care about is the content.
That just leaves my general squeamishness about uploading entire streams instead of more targeted episodic content. But I think weve seen how well I manage with THAT of late.
Of course, this ALSO represents a rather borderline insane conceptual paradigm shift that was way before its time and my general preparedness to handle it: vertical DS capture gameplay variants. And Im STILL not exactly where I want to be with it, BUT... the idea is not as inherently insane as it seems like it should be on a workflow level, since Ive managed to iron out the biggest kinks in having not only commentary and clean-audio variants, but selectively including and excising an entire uncanny puppet show on the side.
Im like one logical leap away from making peace with every possible want and need when it comes to that and more, and Im just shy of being able to claim confidence and comfort with a MUCH less hassle-prone workflow generating all the building blocks of a proper production environment. (And that goes for 3/DS capture AND ridiculous puppet pal monstrosities, where the skys the limit insofar as how visually depraved we can get.)
Definitely PLEASE yell my way if you have any input on any of these things.
Do you feel brazenly neglected that Im not doing a no-commentary version in the properly landscpe layout?
Do you think Im out of my mind for not only focusing on no-commentary video variants, but also a portrait style version for mobile screens? (Again?!)
Do you think the full-stream archives are indigestible garbage?
Do you think proper episodic uploads, even sourced from streams, would still be far more manageable and therefore worth pursuing? (If its NOT watchable, whats the point in expecting anyone to want to WATCH them?)
Do you think its the greatest shame of all that I thereby cut my description-to-video ratio way too far in the visual direction over the verbose? (And most of the descriptions in cases like these are wasted on PRODUCTION NOTES?! Wheres the three-page thesis on the deep meaning of the Slench?!)")

Theres no surprise and a mountain of evidence already entered into the record that I seem to take character creation VERY seriously. I think. Sort of. Its... complicated!
Whether properly accurate or effective in taking a personal inventory, Im one of THOSE people who likes to treat these situations as a chance for a blank slate to insert myself into a new, unfamiliar, and exciting situation. (counterpoint: the unbridled freedom to sin against nature offered by Street Fighter 6 shows that Im woefully lacking in my understanding of what makes a human being... um... human?)
But what if, instead, this isnt your average character creator engine? Sure, all the pieces and parts are there, and theres an incredibly exciting diversity in individual expression and a frankly jarring breadth of body types being made possible.
Possible.
Because you dont actually CONTROL any of it. Youre not so much creating a character as you are evaluating as many possible candidates for your player character as you care to see ferried into the interface for your perusal and approval. And... thats more or less it. Dont like them? Try again!
You CAN lock any slot that you feel might be compelling enough to keep around, but the option doesnt seem especially constructive, since you wont be able to do anything with or to them, just one less generation per roll of the dice.
I want to be very clear: this idea has merit. Its used quite effectively, in fact. To varying degrees in various contexts. And in the sole context of populating a piracy simulator and open seascape for the players to freely interact with, this is a mighty impressive feat of how to fill said world with actually amazing diversity in its people.
But, aside from bespoke NPCs designed exactly as intended and serving specific functions, the PEOPLE populating this world are. Yknow. People. Humans. Playing a game. An online game. Each one will be somone different. Someone unique. And quite likely someone uniquely nonrepresentative of themselves?
I actually really enjoy it in games that are significantly more roguish in persuasion. Getting brand new, uncontrollable generations of characters in the likes of Rogue Legacy or The Swindle and such is positively refreshing, whether or not the difference is really anything but cosmetic.
Im loath to use it as a proper counterpoint, but theres also a certain degree of this in my very early, formative evaluation of Fortnite. That is, bereft of any actual cosmetic items of their own, every new player will boot into the preeminent battle royale as a completely arbitrary... somebody. And each new game thereafter, theyll be someone else. It actually felt kinda impressive and practically self-aware that cramming a hundred people on an island and having them have at one another would by necessity run through a metric ton of personnel in an awful hurry, so populating them uniquely seemed like a nice fit.
Until you acquire a skin. Any skin. I thought at first that maybe it was a unique fashion statement that the random people-generator underpinning it all would suit up with in fair turn... but even the seemingly nondescript Twitch tie-in gal wearing otherwise normal clothes would come back time after time for more without variation.
Obviously where THAT diverges from my expectation is the fact THAT game lives and breathes on grotesque amounts of monetization of visual dissimilarities each available for an often exceedingly real price. And people do love their very pretty, very specific blank slates to project onto, so Im definitely in the wrong in my misaimed iota of admiration that quickly fell off a cliff when I realized.
In THIS game, it was succinctly summarized to me by a veteran player that if people could freely choose their character... wed be overrun by Jack Sparrow impersonators and the like. Oh well.
All it costs ME is about fifty minutes of rolling the dice and trying to separate form, function, and stylization against my already questionable sense of residual self-image. (...and a fleet of self-esteem crises just simmering on the back burner. Its actually cool! I swear!)
