I've once again did another successful video game night for my local church and this was the video to promote the event. I made the mistake of saying it was on Saturday when it was on a FRIDAY.
Our puppet is the church youth group mascot "Blarf" that I borrowed for a month to do shooting with him. The beginning was all done on a Sunday afternoon in my room using medical tape to support my camera on a tripod for recording (janky as heck but it worked none the less). The scene of me throwing Blarf was filmed a month later with my niece holding the camera (and I told her not to laugh as I threw the puppet "safely" over the balcony rail).
I tried to do some improv "make something fly" green screen action by having Blarf being supported by an old Oolong tea bottle for a backbone and plastic pvc pipe to make his arms wail about.
Our last shot is one of our youth students who I wanted to try and physically throw him out a window in the early stages of this video, but that was unsafe or something, so we just used him at the end bit because I said he could be in the video.
The song used is "Don't put Marbles in your Nose" by Brendon Small off the Home Movies OST. I thought it would work for this video, and I was right.
The more Gameo De Mayo's I do in the future, the more videos i'll make. I have fun making these things. Till next year, hope you enjoyed the promo video.
