The son of a famous orator and uncle of a future triumvir, Gaius Antonius Hybrida did nothing to enhance the prestige of the name Antonius. Nonetheless, he led an interesting life and his failure caused him to be immortalized, as a young prosecutor verbally eviscerated him so thoroughly that Hybrida's case continued to be well-known until the fall of the Roman Empire.
