Video Summary
Protein timing, the belief that there is a "window" of time crucial for protein intake is you want ot maximize your gains in muscle growth and strength. Supposedly, this anabolic window exists close in proximity to your training sessions, lending to the idea of taking advantage of the elevated levels of muscle protein synthesis related to resistance training. However, as popular as this concept might be, the science has shown very little support for it. In fact, in many ways, this concept can be considered as yet another fitness myth. That said, there might still be some utility to protein timing IF you meet the conditions neccessary to see its benefits. Let's see what those conditions are.

A key component to any resistance training plan or program is the amount of rest you take between sets. Also known as inter-set rest intervals, the recommended time for rest between sets can vary depending on who you ask, which internet community you follow, or which buffest friend you listen to and ignore the rest. Generally, more rest is a ideal but it's not always the best. So in this video, we'll talk about how to choose the PERFECT amount of rest for you and your goals.

Caffeine and creatine and two of the most widely used fitness supplements in the world. Caffeine is also the most widely used stimulant in the world and, behind water, drinks containing caffeine, like tea and coffee, are the most consumed beverages. Creatine is considered one of the best supplements to take if you're trying to get in better shape, build muscle, and improve your overall exercise performance. Both are especially great at that. But if we are to compare creatine and caffeine to each other, does one clearly stand out above the other? Well, in this video, we're going to see which one can be considered the "best" and help you make more informed purchasing decisions for your dietary supplements.

Video Summary
Cardio is the dominating exercise choice for weight loss. And for a very very long time, it was believed that doing long, steady-state cardio would be the best option, thus leading to half the gym floors filled with an abundance of cardio equipment. Although cardio very much can be effective for weight loss, it it becoming increasingly clear that cardio alone is not the most efficient way to lose weight. Instead, a bit of resistance training can go a long way, all the while keeping your exercise hours the same. And a new study can help us understand this a bit further.

Weightlifting belts are often recommended to anyone that wants to improve their powerlifting and strength development. But some have accused users of such a tool as "CHEATERS!" But is there actually any truth to this? Are users of a weightlifting/powerlifting belt not only "cheating" in lifting more than they can, but maybe even cheating themselves from making REAL gains?

One of the most popular arbitrary "standard" for measuring strength, especially for men, is being able to finally nail that two plate bench press. A solid 225 pounds on the bar, it looks especially beautiful knowing that you're slapping two on each side of the heaviest weight plates found in most gyms (just don't get lost in a powerlifting gym with even heavier plates or you're going to feel weak again). Arbitrary or not, this is a feat that anyone can be happy to say that have completed. And if you're looking to finally get to that milestone yourself, then in this video, we're going to learn all the best strategies to get you there in no time! #strength #fitness #powerlifting

Protein timing is a common fitness strategy proposed by many fitness exports. The belief is that your muscles are most primed for growth immediately after exercise, and it becomes important to make sure you supply your muscles with sufficient nutrients, like protein, as quickly as you can to maximize muscle growth and adaptation. Although this belief has been contested in the past, it is still very common and even experts that do not fully prescribe to the idea of protein timing still recommend getting at least some protein close to your workout.
A new study, however, seems to challenge this belief once again. And this time it uses a fairly high protein intake that normally observed in people that take fitness seriously. So, would a high protein intake paired with consuming protein immediately after your workout see a boost in gains compared to delaying your protein intake to much later in the day? Let's find out1

Cold water immersion is a popular tool used in fitness, especially for sports and recovery. Some have suggested that ice baths, and maybe even ice showers, can be great for your gains as well. Past research on CWIs hasn't been as clear, with most people to issues with achieving optimal temperatures being the biggest barrier. But a new study, a meta-analysis, might finally give us the complete insight we need about cold water immersion and its effect on our gains. Let's see if it's a good idea to dunk ourselves into an icy tub after training or we're better off avoiding it completely.

When it comes to losing weight, aka cutting, we know we have to change a lot about our diet and the foods we eat. The whole calories deficit thingy. But during a cut, should we also make adjustments elsewhere? What about adjustments to our training? Is it better to keep the same training volume and intensity as we normally do during maintenance or even a bulk? Or should that be "cut" as well? Well, in this video, we're gonna talk about why cutting your training is not the worst idea, but also not exactly necessary

The use of training deloads is extremely form of recovery. Virtually all fitness experts recommend some sort of deload, especially once you develop more training experience.
The belief is that deloads can allow your body to truly recover by catching up with all of the fatigue built up by consistent training stimulation. Common sense might suggest that this would definitely be beneficial, but the actual science behind it has, at best, only very lightly supported the use of deloads.
Well, more research has come out recently which further challenges the usefulness of deloads and whether we might actually be wasting our time waiting around instead of just sticking to our training program. Let's take a closer look at the new data.

Protein intake is undoubtedly one of the most critical factors expressed in fitness, especially for muscle growth and strength. We all know that getting enough protein can make a huge difference in your gains, but something that the scientific research seemed to have bounced back and forth about is "how" we should get our protein. Do we have to spread out our protein intake into different meals throughout the day in order to "maximize" gains and anabolic resposnes like muscle protein synthesis? Or can we just take a huge chunk of protein in one sitting and still see the same results? Well this new study on certain important protein-related mechanisms suggest something different from what we've previously believed.

Lifting weights is normally considered the golden standard of fitness, especially if your goal is to build muscle. As great as weight training can be, is it the only option that can truly build the body aesthetic that you want? Or can we ditch all the dumbbells, barbells, machines, and so on, and just crank out a bunch of bodyweight exercises at home or at the park and should be good enough? Well, in this video, we'll both answer that question as well as give a bit more nuance about the concept of building muscle without lifting weights.

We all know how important it is to get your protein if you want to build muscle and get good gains. But of course, not everyone has the luxury of achieving high-protein diets or even struggle to actually get a lot of protein without feeling sick.
So if you struggle with getting a lot of protein, what exactly is the least amount of protein you can get away with and still build muscle? Obviously, it won't be the same amount of muscle as you would when maximizing protein, but what is the threshold for just getting at least a some meaningful gains? Let's find out!

In-depth video on new partial rep research:
youtu.be/a4IF5ilK-jM?si=L8fnB4MZ7RGOnA1s
The popularity of partial reps have been getting some traction lately, forgoing the more commonly recommended training ideology of using the full range of motion (full ROM) of your exercises to elicit the greater muscle growth and strength. But what exactly has changed in recent times to make partial ROM reps a rising contender, especially with so much previous research showcasing otherwise?
Well, in turns out that the debate now hinges on the more nuance approach to partial reps, specifically on which part of the range of motion you're actually performing partials. Now with research starting to narrow the scope on the potentially more effective "long-length" partial reps, we might start seeing a big shift in the meta of resistance training and lifting weights.

We're familiar with exercise having a net positive in our mental health, improving symptoms of common mental health disorders like depression and anxiety as well as helping with stress. We also know that eating more PROTEIN generally will aid us in most fitness goals, especially for muscle but also for weight management. But what about eating more protein for... mental health? A rather interesting question has been posed by a new study and their findings provide quite a fascinating connection between this important macronutrient and mental health. Let's check it out!

As deeply intertwined as they are, mental health isn't discussed often in the world of fitness. It is often a matter of mental health that can prevent people from engaging in the activities required to meet their fitness goals, especially if their goals require actions well beyond their usual lifestyle and willingness.
Interestingly, it may very well be exercise itself that can potentially provide an outlet for people to improve their mental health which might hopefully provide a clearer path in taking continued action for their goals, be it weight loss, building muscle, getting stronger, and so on. According to a new study, the type and intensity of exercise can have different effects on mental health factors, like anxiety and depression. Let's check this new study out and see if we can use the information it provides to help ourselves improve on this very important aspect of life.

The battle between calories and intermittent fasting continues! A new study once again pits the two popular weight loss diet strategies against each other, but this time with a small twist. Can you lose as much weight as counting calories if you intermittently fast... while not counting a single calorie the whole time AND also not even trying to lose weight in the first place? If so, it may very well give fasting the upper hand this round and help maintain its long-running popularity within the fitness world.

Caffeine is the most widely used stimulant in the world. It is undoubtedly an effective stimulant for many, boasting clear improvements across the scientific literature in areas like cognitive performance, alertness, well-being, and yes, even exercise performance.
But as great as it may be, people's experiences with caffeine are hardly similar. Some see all the amazing benefits while other might actually feel worse with caffeine. And many, especially those consuming three grande machiattos daily the past several years, will likely see no effect from it whatsoever.
Outside of tolerance, there is likely another big factor that plays a role in the differences in effect with caffeine consumption we observe between individuals. And it might have something to do with genetics.

Dietary fitness supplements are responsible for one of the largest industries in the realm of fitness, if not the largest. We are constantly bombarded with advertisements, sponsorships, and endorsements all about taking supplements to improve our gains. And although supplements can definitely help, the mess that is the dietary supplement industry due to its unregulated nature causes a lot of confusion and, at times, outright scams too often taking people's hard-earned money.
Truth is, there is more "bad" cases of supplements than there are "good." And even among supplements that are "good," they might not present a benefit as significant as you might expect. In this video, we'll go over some fundamental points that will help you make a more informed decision on your supplement purchases.

Although the most scientifically accepted foundation of weight loss is sufficient reduction of calorie intake to create a calorie deficit, people are often taught an approach to achieve such deficit that can often lead to failure. More specifically, we are taught what would be considered the "common sense" approach, which is that to reduce calorie intake, you reduce food intake. And yes, in all technicality, that is true, but yet telling people to simply "eat less" has not been a successful weight loss strategy for many people.
But what if the approach is something else? What if the approach is, interestingly, the opposite?

The debate about artificial sweeteners is ongoing, with many believing that artificially sweetened products, like diet sodas, are generally detrimental to health. Although the science currently shows an interesting lack of human data on artificial sweeteners behind dangerous for health, another point of contention is its potential effects on a key fitness factor: weight loss.
A new study looks into the weight loss effects of artificially sweetened beverages like diet sodas and how it compares to not sweetened beverages, but the most vital beverage of all, water. Can diet sodas actually help you lose MORE weight than water alone?

And perhaps one of the more resilient beliefs is that short rest intervals between sets is best for building muscle or muscle hypertrophy. The rationale tends to be around pushing more stimulus onto the muscle in a shorter duration so that it accumulates more stress and metabolic swelling, leading to an increase in growth.
However, if we actually look into the science of it all, resting somewhere between, say, 30 to 60 seconds, things don't line up exactly as we might have been told. Perhaps it's time we clear the air once and for all and see what exactly is the best amount of time to rest between your sets if you want the best possible gains.

The debate of the amount of work to do in your workouts continues, and one of such debates revolves around finding the "optimal" or best number of sets you should do for any particular exercise. Sets often do not get enough attention as reps, although it does often work in tandem in determining reps.
But on the basis of sets alone, especially in its general relation of increasing volume, what would actually be the range that works best in both muscle and strength? Are the common recommendations too much or too little? Let's find out!

Conceptually, getting in shape is pretty simple. Depending on the goal, you'll do certain exercises and things tailored for it. Muscle growth? Resistance train (like lifting weights), eat a good amount, get your protein. Fat Loss? Burn calories, eat in a deficit, get your protein. Get stronger? Train heavy, eat moderate to high amounts, and oh, get your protein.
At this point, the script for any fitness goal has been laid out pretty well, but yet, people still make some fundamental training mistakes once they start trying to fill in the details of their fitness plan. And some of these mistakes tend to happen to everyone, even for people that have been training for years simply because they never learned about it. Well, in this video, we're going to look into some of those common gym mistakes that you might be making and not even realizing it!

Indisputably the most ignored aspect of fitness, both in terms of benefits and potential obstacle, is mental health. Sometimes our problem with sticking to our fitness goals or taking the right actions to get in shape aren't from misunderstanding training and nutrition concepts. It is simple to learn the basics and fundamentals of fitness, but we often struggle to follow through because of personal barriers.
No fitness expert will give you the best answer for hurdling our unique challenges with mental health, but what seems more and more true is that exercise itself might be able to at least help with dealing with lower such obstacles. In a new study, researchers make a strong case of using resistance training, like lifting weights, for dealing with depressive symptoms. Although this might not help us with handling mental barriers to get started with training, it might provide some optimism for continuous success afterwards. Let's check it out!

Turkesterone has been all the hype in recent memory. Although not nearly as prominent as its peak in 2022, turkesterone supplements are still bought, sold, and heavily advertised as a promising "new" muscle and strength supplement boasting claims greater than even the most researched and supported supplements, like protein and creatine, could ever wish to offer.
But as we sit and wait for more research on how effective turkesterone really is, especially in terms of muscle, strength, and general fitness development, we've only been getting more and more evidence to the contrary. This time, it looks like things take a turn for the worse not necessarily on the efficacy of turkesterone, but the actual supplement that gets into the hands of the consumer. Let's take a closer look.
