Norfolk Southern Derailment at Perryville, MD 6/23/2025 Salmagundiii 2025-06-23 | According to someone I spoke with, two freight trains were moving onto the Perryville wye at the same time around midnight. I've never seen this, but it is possible - there's quite a bit of double track past the Otsego Street crossing. One derailed, causing a collision with the other. As of 6am, the one on the southern leg of the wye had already been towed back to Baltimore. There was track work on-going in the area.Some of these cars were marked as carrying chemicals like hypochlorite solution, so it's a good thing this wasn't more serious.As of 7am, Amtrak trains along the northeast corridor are severely delayed or canceled, but the tracks are expected to be cleared in the next hour or so.

Most of Union Station had been closed for a dinner to be attended by Trump. Lens was the Canon FD 24mm f2 using the K&F Concept Mount Adapter.Stabilized with deshaker...still need to get the correct setting for rolling shutter. 38% seemed best. I was shivering so a lot of bandwidth was eaten up by camera shake, probably.
NEC operations during signal failure - RARE VIDEO Salmagundiii 2015-07-21 | Sorry for the poor quality.Extremely rare video of 2 MARC trains and a very delayed Acela 2122 operating under stop and proceed orders on June 30, 2015.The Acela comes to within a little more than one car length of the rear end of MARC 532, then follows it to the western tunnel portal of Baltimore where the MARC is allowed to pull ahead. The MARC train was almost an hour late at this point, the Acela was about 30 minutes late.
