It's Saturday, which would normally be Grand Prix day in F-Zero 99. However, a new mode bigger and badder than the Grand Prix that was introduced in the last Christmas event has made a comeback in the new 1.6 update with the Mirror Ace League. The World Tour mode has returned as a special periodic weeklong event, and as such, I have decided to alternate between Grand Prix and World Tour footage for my Saturday morning slot since I have so much of it recorded already.
A couple changes have been made to World Tour mode for this event since the Christmas event. First, the tracks are not frozen over anymore and are played in their normal state. Second, two races have been cut so now there are only 7 races instead of 9, and only one finale track will be chosen for race 7 between Silence 1 or 2, White Land 2 (removed from selection if White Land 1 gets picked for an earlier race), Fire Field, or any of their mirror counterparts.
Scoring also works differently from a regular Prix event. Instead of scoring based entirely on position, it adopts a scoring system more akin to Team Battle, which takes into consideration position, gem sparks collected, speed combo (maintaining top speed after a boost), rivals beaten, and KOs. The 999 players with the highest total World Tour score in a single run at the end of the week receive a hidden badge.
My schedule for this game is as follows:
Monday - Normal Races
Tuesday - Pro Tracks
Wednesday - Mini Prix
Thursday - Team Battle
Friday - Classic Mode
Saturday - Grand Prix/World Tour
Sunday - Variety Marathon (A little of everything)
